I decided to finally explore the Barranco Martiánez, a ravine that meanders from South to North through the middle of Puerto de la Cruz. It was difficult to find an entry point into the canyon because its flanks are mostly almost vertical cliffs or overgrown by impenetrable thorny shrubbery. I found access through an old small water processing plant and climbed down into the riverbed. The hike was quite magical and it almost felt like I entered the netherworld of the city. I made my way through low hanging tree foliage and bushes, past half ruined hotels, under a lot of bridges. At some point I checked the map to see how far I had progressed and recognized a field next to the ravine that looked familiar. I checked my Randonautica bookmarks and it matched a point I had marked in the middle of December with an incredible power of 9.52. I had never enountered a higher powered point before. I took the detour and explored the field around the attractor systematically but didn't find anything. Maybe the attractor had been transient and disappeared in the last weeks? Making my way back into the ravine I passed by a rusty old warehouse close to the attractor and peeked inside through an open window. It was a storage of christmas light decorations normally used on light poles and electric cables across the city! The find made me happy!
